The pioneering Country Music star with "The Browns" – Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie
I can’t believe how my eyes teared up as I watched this. The three of you have been my favorite vocal group since I first heard you with this song back in ’58. I’ve both dug back into your Fabor sides and played all kinds of your music on the radio. (And yes, even when some of the songs were rather silly, you still carried them off beautifully.) Thank you for the many wonderful songs, the beautiful harmonies, and your amazing musicality.
By the way, one of my great favorites of yours is the beautiful “Nevada” from the Three Shades of Brown album. No one ever mentions that one, which is a shame. Sure, it’s sweet as sugar, but it’s really wonderful sugar and a darned fine song. Also, the choral interplay with you and the Anita Kerr Singers takes it to a whole other level. Thanks again for all the excellent music, for helping me appreciate vocal harmony by listening to your magic blend – and for this amazingly moving performance!
I think you 3 did a great job in 1999 singing the 3 bells. I was born a couple years after the first singing of it in 65 at the opry but grew up listening to it and loving it. I just wanted to say thanks for the singing of a beautiful song and gracing us with that beautiful voice of your’s.
